Challenge
Battery life was a critical constraint, directly impacting maintenance costs and scalability. Data transmission to central systems was the largest energy consumer, requiring highly efficient communication strategies. At the same time, Edge AI models needed to run on constrained hardware with limited memory and processing power, without compromising reliability.
Context
Waltero develops battery-powered IoT devices using embedded Edge AI for image-based decision-making in distributed environments.
What we did
We scaled Waltero’s team with embedded and hardware-near expertise and worked hands-on with low-level optimization of firmware, data transmission strategies, and Edge AI execution. The focus was on minimizing power consumption while improving performance, reliability, and overall system efficiency.
Result
Improved battery life and device efficiency, enabling more reliable Edge AI performance on constrained hardware. Reduced need for maintenance and enabled more advanced monitoring capabilities, supporting a shift toward predictive maintenance and more efficient operations.
