Challenge
The challenge was to create a reliable, automatic detection system for person overboard incidents. The solution had to function effectively in areas with poor connectivity, ensuring real-time alerts and fast intervention in emergency situations.
Context
A company develops safety systems for passenger ferries and cruise ships. They needed to address critical person overboard incidents with a solution that works even without constant connectivity—a key challenge in remote areas where connectivity is limited.
What we did
We worked as an integration partner integrating multiple third-party systems and developing the entire core of the system. The solution is event-driven at heart, with automatic detecion and drone deployment combined with edge computing and real-time data collection. This allowed for immediate response to critical incidents, even when connectivity is intermittent or unavailable.
Result
Our solution improves response times and provides a scalable, future-proof system to enhance maritime safety. The system extended coverage in areas where traditional systems failed, and it is now positioned to scale across the fleet.
